Adult Services and Youth Services are collaborating to present The Wide, Wide World of Amateur Radio, with Eric Norris, WD6DB, on June 12 at 7 p.m. 
If you think amateur or "ham" radio is a couple of nerds tapping away on telegraph keys, you're in for a big surprise! Eric Norris, WD6DB, will give you a taste of the amazing diversity of this hobby. You can communicate using computers in a variety of ways over the air, as well as by the traditional methods of using a microphone or even a telegraph key. You can bounce radio signals off the moon or meteor trails, find hidden transmitters (fox hunts), join your local emergency preparedness group, or just talk to family members without worrying about dropped calls or coverage areas. You can also talk to other hams in faraway places around the world!
